New series: Morning and Afternoon Inspired Reflections
Introduction and Compendium a new series to begin and end our day. Inspiration helps us to ascend to our best
I’ve known a lovely couple who have 9 kids and have been happily married for nearly twelve years. They are part of the Virginia Amish culture. They are farmers and build custom and one-off furniture. The kids are homeschooled and score 2-5 grades higher than kids attending public school. They recently purchased a huge John Deere tractor for the farm and a Ford F-350 truck, and paid cash for both. They live a simple life; TV is limited to educational content and no cable TV. They limit TV and radio to one hour a day for the children, which is far more than others within in the Amish community. The community in which they live are the first to respond to local disasters.
The other day, their father reminded me of one key point. He said that for nearly a month they were not aware of the pandemic. They only noticed others wearing masks and 6-feet marks placed on the floor at the gas station. They respected those who sought to wear masks, but they never did. Their kids were healthy the entire time and he and his wife haven’t been sick in over four years. Then he spoke a great truth… He said he believes the TV promotes fear, compliance, and promotes authority. He chose not to embrace it and their community is mostly happy. In their Amish community, their elders opposed local orders and they never embraced fear. He believes the TV induces entertainment dependence and limits our individuality. I’ve never forgotten his remarks and I agree with every point he made.
News cycles are negative. Our movies mostly promote anti-family values, and our nation is facing one political calamity after another. The GOP is weak in response and has dismally failed to promote Amendment X.
Now each day that we awaken, we are subjected to an onslaught of negative realties we’ve never witnessed previously.
I’ve decided to begin and end the newsletter updates with kindness, gratefulness, tranquility, and will promote under this series video, photos, poems, heroes, and other options to help you face your day with joy and peace and end you day with gratitude and serenity.
