Update: Newsletter Change
Darel Long's pronouncement newsletter will change to a new custom domain.
I’m thankful for the attention given to my work by my readers. My readers are the reason for my success; I give you all the credit.
As a Search Engine Optimization (SEO) and social media student, I’ve noticed Twitter’s restriction of Substack writers. I also realized the true value of domain ownership versus a substack-only channel.
For example, my Substack newsletter continues to grow under DarelLong@Substack.com, which I titled Darel Long’s Pronouncement. My second live newsletter is OvercomeParentalAlienation.com. The latter is my domain, which Substack hosts.
The direct ownership of my domain hosted at Substack allows for wide disruption across social media. It’s also easier to embed media at OvercomeParentalAlienation.com, yet Substack host both newsletters.
To be honest, Twitter and some other social media companies are actively restricting Substack newsletters. Because of this, I’ve decided to launch my newsletter under my own domain to hopefully expand my audience. I plan on importing all email subscribers from this newsletter to the new one once it’s live.
The content for the new newsletter will remain the same; the only BIG change will be using a custom domain name versus a Substack URL.
If you are a free subscriber, you shall remain a free subscriber, and you may update to paid to support my work at any time. If you are a paid subscriber, your subscription will be honored under the new newsletter.
The second important reason for this change may safeguard my work amid any potential WOKE platform policies which Substack may or may not introduce. Should this occur, I can transfer the domain to a third-party hosting provider and relaunch while still maintaining any backlinks linked to my custom domain.
The most important changes will allow readers to share across Twitter, making it easier to embed Twitter videos without providing a direct text link to Twitter. Both objectives will allow me to increase my reach and allow my readers to share more easily.
