What is going on at Epik.com?
Two recent domain purchases to support my newsletter are MIA and contact from Epik.com has been ZERO
Why is Epik.com Missing In Action?
During the early stages of the rampant cancel culture, the anti-free speech sickness began to afflict online hosting companies. Hosting providers such as GoDaddy and Amazon hosting and other providers began canceling conservative domains and hosting services with little or no warning, and Epik.com began to emerge as a stable and reliable provider of domains and hosting.
Since I announced changes to my newsletter, I did so, hoping to improve my reach using a custom domain. At first, I registered LongPronoucment.com, and soon after, I noted APatriotPronoucment.com, the latter I believe would be well received by my current readers and future subscribers.
I registered each domain for ten years at Epik.com, and neither appears as an active domain within my account. I did retain the receipt for each purchase, and neither seems to be live, showing the specific landing page that Epik.com has previously provided with other domains I’ve purchased from them.
I earnestly hoped my newsletter would be live with the abovementioned domain, yet Epik.com is MISSING IN ACTION.
The phone number provided by Epik.com support at 1-737-530-3745 isn’t accepting phone calls. Today I located a toll-free number for Epik Holdings; likewise, the phone number isn’t taking calls. Their website claims to offer 24/7 hour chat support, and yet no chat icon or button can be found to click to begin the chat. I’ve sent a private message via Twitter and two emails and received ZERO responses from anyone from Epik.com.
Indeed, a large hosting provider such as Epik.com cares about its customers and would update with any issue via email. Still, no such email is found, and no single post can be found on the website to inform its customers.
Recent Twitter posts from Epik.com disclose financial conflict from its founder, but nothing recent to explain why they are MISSING IN ACTION for existing or future customers.
My reality is providing excellent content for my subscribers and transitioning to a custom domain will continue; sadly, Epik.com is destroying its once good name as a free speech champion and excellent customer service by ignoring customer service.
At this point, I can only speculate Epik is looking for a buyer or merger with another hosting company while at the same time adversely affecting customers with big ideas and plans.
I’m also faced with how I transfer my domains when the provider refuses to answer the request for help. Thus, I may have to register a third domain to serve my newsletter with another domain registrar and seek a provisional credit from the recent purchases with Epik.com.
Despite Epik.com’s lack of assistance, I will reemerge with a new domain and move things forward. Should Epik.com connect with me to resolve my issues immediately, I may consider the simple act of forgiveness as long as they take care of my needs with previous domains.
If you are considering registering a custom domain for your Substack newsletter, website, or hosting at one time, formally, I would have provided a positive recommendation for their services, and today I can no longer recommend Epik.com.
